Here she is a month ago at a birthday party holding one of my brothers twins (that's Alex she's holding, I think). She's been going to State for four hundred years now working on her teaching degree and internships. She's one of the kindest people you'll ever meet. She's always laughing and joking around, and always there when you need her.

The first time I met her she was a lot smaller.
Here's the three of us together. I should have had a fundraiser for all the mental anguish caused to me by having to wear those glasses.
That's right, star wars PJ's, what could be better?
Okay enough of the cute pictures.
Here's the three of us a just a few years ago.

Seven months ago Kristy admitted herself into the hospital for difficulty breathing and painful heartburn. The doctors at this small town hospital discovered that a lot of fluid had gathered around her heart and they operated immediately to drain.  Had she waited much longer she would have died, they told us.

Then begin the long process of trying to figure out what it was that had caused her condition, so as she lay in ICU they conducted test after test and were unable to come up with anything solid.  They suspected immediately, a disease that we later learned usually meant they didn't know what was wrong.

More time passed and after some convincing we talked my parents into moving her to a better hospital, U of M was recommended and we got her in there.

They discovered she had a rare and aggressive form of leukemia called CMML, and they wanted to do a bone marrow transplant. Kenny turned out to be a match, which was great news, because we only had a 25% chance that one of us would match (I didn't).

The procedure costs $500,000. After months of tests and struggling with insurance companies we finally get her in there. Since more time has passed, the doctors discover that the cancer is progressing quickly, and they decide to do chemo therapy as well.

And that's where we get into the hospital pics
